Once you have completed the FDNY exam preparation and OSHA fire prevention training course, follow these steps to obtain your respective FDNY Certificate of Fitness:
1. Review Study Materials: Study the relevant FDNY Notice of Exam and Study Materials for your specific certification (e.g., F-01, F-02, F-03, F-04) to prepare thoroughly for the exam.
2. Submit Application and Payment: Complete the Certificate of Fitness (COF) application and submit the $25 application fee online before your visit to the FDNY Headquarters.
3. Schedule and Take the Exam: Once your application and payment are submitted, schedule an appointment to take the appropriate exam at the FDNY Headquarters, located at 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Exams are conducted Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, excluding public holidays.
4. Receive Your Certificate: If you pass the exam, your Certificate of Fitness will be issued immediately. Should you not pass, you will need to reapply, pay the application fee again, and retake the exam.
Important Note: Bring two forms of identification when you go for the exam, with at least one being a government-issued photo ID, to meet the FDNY’s entry requirements.
