For workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(i), the 40 hours of off-site instruction are only part of the initial training requirement. OSHA also requires at least three days of supervised field experience under a trained, experienced supervisor.
Who needs 40-Hour HAZWOPER training?

What You'll Learn in 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training

40 Hours of Class Training + Supervised Field Experience
For general site workers under OSHA 1910.120(e)(3)(i), initial HAZWOPER training includes both components. Tribune's course covers the required off-site instruction. The employer/site must ensure the worker also receives the required supervised field experience appropriate to the job and site conditions.

General site workers need at least three days of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor.
