What you will learn

  1. Choose a scissor lift that fits the task, surface, load and work area.
  2. Identify inspection defects and explain when to stop and report them.
  3. Choose safe actions for stability, falls, travel, overhead and electrical hazards.
  4. Explain the emergency plan and the employer steps needed before independent operation.

How the course works

Watch one topic at a time

Follow the short lessons with clear narration, branded slides and English captions. Pause and return to a lesson when you need a review.

Answer, check and continue

Answer three simple questions after each module. Select Check answers to see the correct answer and a short explanation. Wrong practice answers will not hold you back after you complete the activity.

Complete the knowledge assessment

Finish required lessons and practice, satisfy the published course-time requirements and earn at least 70% on the separate final exam. Exam attempts are unlimited.

Employer guidance and fillable records

Read the employer guidance inside the course. Save the fillable records for the person conducting the actual training and evaluation. The forms record work that takes place; signing a form does not replace doing that work.

  • Pre-use inspection and defect reporting
  • Workplace and capacity assessment
  • Machine familiarization
  • Supervised practical training

Evaluate and authorize

  • Observed performance evaluation
  • Corrective instruction and reassessment
  • Employer authorization and restrictions
  • Task-specific emergency and rescue plan
  • Trainer, evaluator, dates and actual equipment records

A student reference guide supports review. Required course activities stay inside the academy.

Completion requirements and course records

Complete all required lessons and module practices, meet the published qualifying course-time requirement and pass the final knowledge exam with at least 70%. The final exam allows unlimited attempts. Keep your online completion record and give the employer resources to the person arranging your workplace training.

Online knowledge completion and employer practical authorization serve different purposes. Your employer must confirm readiness for the actual equipment, work and site conditions.

Scissor lift course questions

What device do I need?

Use a current web browser, a reliable internet connection and a working camera. The Online Academy requires photos when entering or resuming lessons, and additional course and exam photo checks. Allow camera access when prompted. English captions are available. Call Tribune if you need help with access.

How long is the course?

The course has one instructional hour, supported by approximately 65 minutes of required narrated videos. Allow additional time for the module practices, employer guidance and final exam. Your study time may vary. This course does not award CEUs.

Can I begin at any time?

Yes. The self-paced course lets you study when it suits you. Use the enrollment popup to review the current course and price.

Does the course cover both electric slab and rough-terrain scissor lifts?

It teaches the knowledge and decisions relevant to both. You still need training and familiarization for the exact model, configuration, controls, limits and worksite before use.

Do all scissor lifts require the same harness arrangement?

No. The complete guardrail system, actual machine instructions, applicable rules and employer hazard assessment determine the required protection. The course explains how to resolve the appropriate arrangement.

What happens if I miss a practice question?

You see the correct answer and an explanation, then continue and review. Answer every question before checking. The separate final exam has a 70% passing score and unlimited attempts.

Does passing the online exam authorize me to operate at work?

Your employer must arrange the practical instruction, machine familiarization and observed workplace evaluation needed for the assignment, then authorize the equipment and work you may perform.
