Student Enrollment Agreement

Before completing your registration, please carefully review this Enrollment Agreement. This page outlines important policies regarding enrollment, DCJS training requirements, student responsibilities, certificate issuance, and refund rules.

1. General Policy

This Enrollment Agreement applies to students registering for security guard training programs offered by Tribune Training Academy.

Tribune Training Academy is approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

2. Security Guard Training Programs

  1. 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training – must be completed before employment.
  2. 16-Hour On-The-Job Training – must be completed within 90 days of employment.
  3. 8-Hour Annual Training – required annually after the first year.
Completion of security guard training does not guarantee employment.

3. Student Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate registration information
  • Attend all required training sessions
  • Follow classroom policies and instructor guidance
  • Complete required coursework and examinations

4. Certificates of Completion

Students who successfully complete training will receive a DCJS-approved Certificate of Completion.

Training schools may not withhold certificates from students who successfully complete courses.

5. DCJS Refund Policy

100% refund prior to the start of instruction.

  • 50% refund before the start of the second day (two-day course)
  • 75%, 50%, 25% refund schedule if divided into four sessions

Security guard training schools cannot charge non-refundable deposits.

6. Licensing Requirements

  • Submit fingerprints
  • Complete criminal background check
  • Apply through NYS Department of State Division of Licensing Services

7. Student Advisory Notice

  • Completion of training does not guarantee employment
  • Attendance requirements must be met
  • Written examinations may be required
  • Certificates must be issued upon completion

9. Agreement Acknowledgment

By submitting the enrollment form, the student acknowledges that they have read and understand this Enrollment Agreement and agree to the policies described above.

Submitting the enrollment form serves as electronic acceptance of this agreement.
