Online Scaffold Training: SST Credit vs Worker Wallet

An online scaffold course can serve a different purpose from a scaffold qualification. Before you enroll, check the course’s delivery method and the credential you need: SST training credit, a supported-scaffold qualification recorded on a Worker Wallet, or both.

SST credit and scaffold qualifications are separate

NYC DOB distinguishes the SST card from the Worker Wallet. The Worker Wallet records qualifying worker certifications and does not replace the SST card. A worker’s assignment may require both. Read the DOB Worker Wallet information and Tribune’s Worker Wallet guide before choosing training.

What Tribune’s self-paced scaffold course provides

Tribune’s online 4-hour supported scaffold course is for SST credit only. It does not provide a scaffold card or the supported-scaffold qualification on a Worker Wallet. The Spanish self-paced scaffold course has the same credential limitation.

This option can be relevant when you need the course’s SST credit and your training history supports that pathway. It should not be selected as a substitute for the scaffold qualification your work assignment requires. If your supervisor asks for a “scaffold card,” confirm precisely which qualification and record they mean before paying.

When you need supported-scaffold qualification

DOB’s 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher requirements allow qualifying instructor-led formats and distinguish them from on-demand courses that grant SST credit only. At Tribune, use the in-person supported scaffold course for the scaffold qualification described on that course page.

Bring your existing training records when you ask about eligibility. A provider needs enough information to distinguish a new qualification, a refresher, SST credit and card-processing support. Selecting a class by its four-hour duration alone does not establish that it meets the requirement for your role.

Choose training in three steps

First, identify the assignment. Ask your employer whether you will use a supported scaffold, supervise scaffold work, or need a different scaffold qualification. Supported and suspended scaffold courses are separate options.

Second, check your records. Review your SST card, Worker Wallet, certificates and course dates. If your purpose is renewal, start with Tribune’s SST renewal information rather than assuming every scaffold class is a renewal package.

Third, confirm the course scope. Match the published credential and delivery method to your requirement. Use the scaffold training directory to compare options, or call (718) 790-2664 for help reviewing the available paths.

Are card fees included?

Tribune’s card-fee disclosure explains the applicable cards included with purchased SST and scaffold courses and the separate replacement-card charges. An included fee does not change a course’s credential scope; eligibility and successful completion still matter.
