NYC rigging training is not one single course. The correct class depends on the worker’s role, the lifting operation, prior training and the specific credential or employer requirement.
16-Hour Rigging Worker Training
The 16-Hour Rigging Worker course is intended for workers who need the DOB-recognized worker-level rigging course. Training focuses on rigging fundamentals, equipment, inspection, load control, communication and common lifting hazards.
32-Hour Rigging Supervisor Training
The 32-Hour Rigging Supervisor course is a separate supervisor-level pathway. It addresses planning, supervision, inspection, load handling, communication and hazard controls in greater depth.
Rigging Worker and Supervisor Refreshers
Tribune also maintains dedicated pages for the 8-Hour Rigging Worker Refresher and 16-Hour Rigging Supervisor Refresher. Confirm whether a refresher or an initial course is required before registering.
Special Rigger Training
Special Rigger training is not the same as the general Rigging Worker or Rigging Supervisor course. Students can review Tribune’s 16-Hour Special Rigger Training and 8-Hour Special Rigger Renewal pages.
Related crane and hoisting courses
Depending on the work being performed, students may also need training such as:
- Rigging Signalman Training
- 40-Hour Hoisting Machine Operator Training
- 32-Hour Lift Director Training
- 30-Hour Tower Crane Rigger Training
- Basic Rigging & Inspection
Which rigging course do I need?
Do not choose only by the number of hours. Bring the exact course title, credential, employer requirement or project requirement you were given. Tribune can help point you to the corresponding course page, but the employer or NYC DOB requirement controls which training is appropriate.
