Self-paced online training
A student guide to Tribune self-paced SST courses. Follow these steps from registration through receiving your course certificate. Your course page and registration confirmation identify its learning outcomes, required hours and completion requirements.
Before you begin
Use a camera-enabled computer, tablet or phone with a supported browser, a reliable internet connection and good lighting. Keep a valid, supported government photo ID ready for the Stripe verification flow. Choose a quiet space where only you are in camera view.
1. Open your enrolled course
Sign in through Student Login, then open My Courses and select your enrolled course. Review the course title, learning outcomes, curriculum, required hours and assessment information. Use your own student account throughout the course.
2. Confirm personal completion and verify your identity
Confirm: “I am the registered student. I will complete this training myself, without assistance.” If your account does not already have a current verified identity, follow Stripe’s guided ID and live-selfie capture. Use a document supported by the verification flow. A current verified identity can be linked to your enrolled courses.
3. Allow the camera and start learning
Allow your browser to use the camera. Position your device so your face is clearly visible and keep only yourself in view. Begin when the course shows Camera monitoring active. ID and selfie still images are retained privately as identity evidence. Course camera video and lesson microphone audio are not recorded by the attendance monitoring function.
4. Complete the required lessons and training time
Follow the modules in order and complete the required videos, activities and assessments. The course saves lesson progress and accepted training time. Total class time shows qualifying time; Time remaining shows the time still required. For example, a two-hour course requires 120 qualifying minutes. Lesson progress and training time are separate completion requirements.
Taking breaks and returning
You can take a break and return to saved work. When your presence is no longer confirmed, training time stops and the lesson pauses. Return alone to camera view; training resumes automatically once monitored participation is confirmed. Keep the course visible while learning. Time away from the course, camera interruptions and offline periods do not count toward training time.
Moving between lectures and using your phone
Use the course navigation to continue to the next available lesson. Keep your camera enabled as you move between lessons. On a phone, keep the course visible and position the phone steadily. If a camera or connection prompt appears, follow it before continuing. The training clock remains paused until monitoring is restored.
5. Complete the final assessment
Complete the course’s required lessons, activities and monitored time, then follow its final assessment instructions. The passing score, time limit and permitted attempts are course-specific. Your assessment attempts and saved result remain part of your course record.
6. Submit the course evaluation
After meeting the final assessment’s passing requirement, complete the short self-paced course evaluation. Rate the six statements about clarity, learning outcomes, materials, the online platform, pacing and overall satisfaction. Comments are optional. Honest ratings are encouraged and do not need to be positive.
7. Receive your completion record and certificate
Once you meet all course requirements, Tribune records your completion and generates the applicable certificate. Once issued, sign in to your student portal and open the course completion or Certificates & CEUs area to view and download your certificate. The course record retains the certificate number, student and course details, hours and issuance information.
Understanding CEUs and SST credit
For eligible courses, one CEU equals ten eligible contact hours: a two-hour learning event may award 0.2 CEU and an eight-hour event may award 0.8 CEU. Use the course’s published award value. DOB SST credit is recorded separately using the applicable approved course hours and category. Breaks, identity setup and extra review time do not increase the course’s approved award. A course certificate is separate from an SST card; the required course combination and Training Connect process apply to SST card issuance.
Your training record and support
Tribune retains your identity verification, personal-completion statement, attendance and training time, lesson progress, assessment results, course evaluation and issued certificate with your learning record. Identity evidence is kept private and access is restricted to authorized personnel. Contact Tribune at 718-790-2664 or through Student Support for access, device or course questions. This guide applies to self-paced SST courses offered in the applicable authorized delivery format; live and practical course components follow their own course instructions.
